Mullein
MODERATE EVIDENCEBotanicalLast updated
AVELOR SUMMARY
Mullein is a traditional respiratory herb, the leaves contain mucilage (demulcent for coughs) and saponins (expectorant, loosen mucus). Mullein flower oil ear drops have limited evidence for ear infection pain relief. Used in herbal cough remedies. Very limited clinical data, mostly traditional use. The mechanism (mucilage + saponin combination) is pharmacologically plausible for respiratory comfort.
