AVELOR SUMMARY
NAG is a component of hyaluronic acid and mucin glycoproteins, the building blocks of gut mucosal protection and joint fluid. Unlike glucosamine sulfate (which is used for OA), NAG specifically supports mucin production in the GI tract. A 2000 study found NAG improved UC symptoms in children who failed standard therapy. Also used for skin barrier repair (NAG is a precursor to hyaluronic acid in skin). Dose: 1-6g/day. Distinct pharmacological profile from glucosamine sulfate.
